The list below includes the major and exceptional lodges that shelter tourists who visit the western region for a Uganda gorilla tour or other appealing activities.

Mount Gahinga Lodge. Mount Gahinga Lodge was the first lodge built by Praveen Moman and opened in 2002.

Mount Gahinga Lodge has eight guest bandas, all with stone walls and a papyrus roof. Each is named after a Virunga volcano! Two are deluxe rooms, four bandas contain a double bed, and two have twin beds. Room features include bedside tables and lighting, a chunky storage chest, and a cozy stone fireplace. The well-appointed en-suite facilities comprise flush toilet, twin washbasins, and shower with hot and cold running water. Every Banda also benefits from a lovely private veranda and all guests have use of a personal butler service.

The bandas are connected to the property’s main lodge along neat pathways. This building is made out of stone and thatch too. Inside, there’s an open-plan lounge and dining area, with well-cushioned wicker sofas and armchairs, a long table flanked by upright chairs for communal meals and a large central fireplace. This space extends into a comfy sun room which boasts amazing views of the volcanoes and surrounding landscape.

Guests can also marvel at the scenery from Mount Gahinga’s terrace. Wi-Fi is available throughout the lodge, but it can be unreliable.

In a separate building, there’s a great little gift shop perfect for purchasing souvenirs.

Apart from gorilla trekking, there are other activities that visitors can engage in while at Mount Gahinga Lodge such as Golden monkey treks, Cultural experiences and many others.

Bwindi Lodge. Bwindi lodge is found in the Buhoma sector of Bwindi impenetrable national park and it’s one of the finest luxury accommodations at the park. Bwindi Lodge offers a stylish setting from which to enjoy the unforgettable experience of tracking the majestic mountain gorillas of Uganda.

This beautiful lodge has just 8 stone and timber glass-fronted bandas which face the lush forest canopy. The ensuite rooms reflect the local building style and provide luxury in an eco-sensitive way. Guests can look forward to flushing toilets, a double vanity, showers with hot and cold running water and a private balcony from which to spot wildlife, including chimpanzees, mountain gorillas, and monkeys.

Guests can enjoy delicious meals and evening drink at the cozy bar and dining area which overlooks the forested slopes or relax by the fire in the lounge and share exciting gorilla trekking adventures with other guests. Other activities include scenic walks in the rainforest, a massage at the Forest Spa, a tea processing tour and a visit to the Bwindi Community Hospital or local Batwa Pygmies for an insight into traditional culture.

Kyambura Gorge Lodge. It is set between the Kyambura Gorge and Queen Elizabeth National Park. Kyambura Gorge Lodge boasts 8 beautiful and spacious bandas nestled on the hillside each with its own bathroom. Among the 8 Bandas, 4 are standard and 4 deluxe. The rooms are very spacious and include queen size beds, en-suite bathroom with private indoor and outdoor walk-in showers, a private veranda and a personal butler. Every Banda has great views over both the park and the gorge.

Each Banda overlooks a different aspect of the panoramic views across the gorge and the lush savannah of the national park stretching all the way to the Rwenzori Mountains.

Meals are prepared using the freshest local ingredients and served in the dining area. The lodge is situated within easy walking distance of the trail where guests can begin their chimpanzee trekking adventure.

Game drives in the National Park, guided forest walks and birdwatching expeditions explore the surroundings.

While at this lodge, do not miss out on the opportunity to go and spot the tree climbing lions in Ishasha.

The lodge offers a living room area with a majestic swimming pool where you can relax after a long chimpanzee trekking day or you do a massage from the sauna.

Volcanoes Kibale Lodge. The lodge is perfectly positioned for chimpanzee trekking in Kibale National Park in Uganda. The lodge is built in the renowned Volcanoes handmade style by an in-house design and build team of African artisans.

Kibale Lodge sits on a ridge with stunning views of the Rwenzori Mountains looking towards the west and the Queen Elizabeth plains and the Kazinga channel to the south.

The 150-acre site is surrounded by lush homesteads on the rolling hills around Fort Portal known for its warm and welcoming climate. The lodge is in the heartland of the old Batooro kingdom and in the area of the historically important medieval Bachwezi kingdom.

The Lodge presently offers 2 rooms on the main building and 5 luxury cottages with private toilets and hot showers. All cottages are very well furnished to ensure comfort for all. No detail has been overlooked in the refurbishment of these magnificent cottages.

Kibale Lodge Spa has two double massage rooms, sauna and swimming pool. All massages are complimentary and subject to booking and availability.

Volcanoes Virunga Lodge. The lodge is set on a stunning hillside. The magnificent Virunga Lodge boasts panoramic vistas of the Virunga Volcanoes and the beautiful lakes of Ruhondo and Bulera.

Each of 10 luxurious bandas named after the Rwandan lakes features a spacious bedroom with a cozy fireplace as well as a private terrace with sweeping views of the breathtaking surrounds.

Those in need of relaxation can revel in the comfort of the main lodge or spend some time in the Dian Fossey Map Room.

Volcanoes Virunga Lodge is built in the local style from wood and stone and has a tranquil atmosphere. In the evenings, you can relax around a log fire and tell stories about the day’s adventures in the jungle. The lodge has been built to high environmentally-friendly standards; rain water is collected and electricity is provided by solar power.
