Planning a luxury safari in Uganda is as easy as picking your safari destinations and then choosing from the best lodges in the parks or nearby. Most luxury travelers on a short holiday visit Bwindi for a 3 day or four and probably on overland or flying experience, and those with more time combine it with Kibale Forest National Park for chimpanzees and other primates, Queen Elizabeth National Park for big game safaris (and tree-climbing lions) and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park for gorilla trekking experience.
Travelers on longer trips also visit Jinja for exciting Nile River activities such as white-water rafting, Murchison Falls National Park for incredible landscapes and wildlife and, for adventurous travelers who like to really get off the beaten track, there’s a flight to the magnificent rugged Kidepo Valley National Park in Uganda’s remote north.
Uganda offers excellent luxury lodges and tented camps situated in and around the best national parks and reserves, from Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kidepo National Park and Murchison Falls National Park to a private island in the Nile River, a high-altitude forest outside of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. For city stays, Kampala and Entebbe also have a handful of luxury five-star hotels.
You can also fly between the most popular safari destinations by plane. If you want to travel in the most relaxing and hassle-free way, then do a custom flying safari, where you travel by private charter planes between destinations, and then get transfers from the airstrips to each luxury lodge.
You go to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park one of Uganda’s best safari areas best-known for gorilla trekking, and being able to encounter the habituated mountain gorilla that live there. But it’s far from being a one-dimensional experience. Climbing, dining or reclining, there’s no doubt that gorilla is the star attraction here, but simply walking in the forest, and general game viewing, is wonderful too.
Bwindi Lodge combines the primaeval and the modern in studied harmony. The nearby forest has a timeless quality to it, with its ancient trees, mist and mystery. The transition from the forest into this lodge, one of Uganda’s best safari lodges brings you into a world of comfort.
The Banda is artfully constructed from plaster and timber, so that it doesn’t at all seem out of place. The entire front wall facing into the forest is made of glass, giving us unimpeded views into the shadowy coolness beyond.
Walking here from the main area, you come across the newly opened Humura Forest Spa, where you can relax from after each excursion into the forest. Gaze out through the floor-to-ceiling windows and discover the many little luxuries.
